He seemed to reach a peak in 2016, having shown promise before that, and many times in that season, bowled with accuracy and at a lively pace.
ReplyDeleteWithout wanting to be unkind, and despite some useful spells, never quite regained that form. Injuries did hamper him. Always though, gave it his full effort. Very much appreciate that.

ReplyDeleteWithout a shadow of a doubt , fast bowlers have the hardest job in cricket . The sheer physical effort required to bowl a single ball . Fancy bowling 20 overs in a single day . That’s a minimum of 120 pounding runs ups and frenetic delivery effort . No wonder they break down and sometimes don’t ever recover properly.. I know they are well paid athletes but perhaps we are a little too hard on them . I am as guilty as anyone in this respect.
For about 18 months, Jake was international quality
ReplyDeleteOnly have good wishes for him. Met him once in the small coop opposite the ground and he seemed an unassuming and very decent bloke. Did England 🏴 push him too hard on his tour down under after his best season for Notts?
Reg, the bowling issue, if you get on an ECB central contract like Jimmy A and The Golden Boy, then you’re ok, as you say for the rest like Fletch and the Hit Man it’s very hard graft indeed
