Nottinghamshire FCC Career Averages including 2023

Stats c/o  MAG

Remember last week's Members' Forum; according to his dad, Tom Moores averages 30. For 30, read 23 Peter! Is that enough for someone that bats at 6?

  1. In that case it’s just as well that he is so accomplished as a keeper as at any other County side, he probably bats 8 or doesn’t make the side, full stop
The problem at Notts is there’s normally numbers 6/7 to 9 that are as good/bad as each other in the tail and it wouldn’t really matter in which order you played them in for most of the matches

  2. Moores is not in the team through being a good batsman or wicketkeeper.

    1. I think Mr Moores (senior) never said he was good. He only implied Tom was the best at his disposal and that he was improving. Peter admitted Tom was no Chris Read. For me the problem is that Schadendorf doesn't get a look in when Tom is out injured. Clarke filled the role this year and did an adequate job, but he's no long term wicket keeper because of his back (issues?). Peter's line about Schadendorf being too young blah, blah, to me doesn't hold water as he's older than the lad Rew at Somerset and look what he's done this year.

  3. 80 NOT OUT
Scenario at end of next season ?!
    Peter Moores gets the boot
    Followed quickly by son Tom
Nepotism will always be a factor .
But is it possible Tom MIGHT improve as a wicketkeeper and also score 700 + runs next year ?

Loving the stats! They always trigger discussion

I think on the moores Jnr, 23 as an average isn’t enough - you can tell that from the other stats around him (Hutton’s, Mullaney etc). Would be interesting (and tbis isn’t a request!) to see those of his peers from the other counties!

For me too the stats show the quality of Ball in his prime - but the separate section of Ball’s career stats by season shows the last 4 seasons decline (20 odd wickets across 4 seasons, 2 of which were BWT I think. ). Therefore knowing when to say goodbye to a player is a hard call. Samit has great career stats until the last 2 seasons
So it is this which will be the challenge with Moores and Mullaney. Will they come again (in the case of Mullaney, whose career stats are ok) or come good (in the case of Moores - who looked like he might be doing so before the Hundred)

Too many batsmen in the 30s average? Makes it hard for us to get regular 350 scores…..??

But we only get the discussion with the stats so thanks again
