Day Two
With the unearthly early start (for cricket in England) and the cloudy conditions, batting would have been difficult in a fully competitive match; as it was Notts found it challenging against the bowling of Footitt and Palladino, the later finding a number edges that carried to first slip. Several Nottinghamshire batsmen reached between 20 and 40 runs as Notts made 270 from their allocation of 60 overs, making it a useful practice.
Nottinghamshire, giving Fletcher and Gurney their first taste of English conditions in 2015, made inroads into the Derbyshire batting, both taking a couple of wickets.
When Derbyshire had used up all their overs they were 196/7.

Mick's Pick and Mix week
Mick Newell has pledged to give the whole of the fit members of the squad a run out during the four days of scheduled practice cricket this week at Trent Bridge.
Notts will play 2 days against Northamptonshire at the beginning of the week followed by two days against Derbyshire at the end.
So you can expect a lot of change around between batting elevens and bowling elevens as the week progresses when the D of C dives into his pick and mix of players.

World Cup Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, Final
Sunday Final
Australia v New Zealand
On an MCG surface much favourable to the Australian pace attack, New Zealand could only muster 183. Heroes of the Kiwi tournament: Guptill, McCullum,
Williamson and Anderson all falling flat at the final hurdle. Grant Elliott again showed good composure with 83 and with Ross Taylor's 40 they gave the Kiwi score some respectability and the Kiwi bowlers something to work with.
Kiwi hopes were briefly raised when Aaron Finch was Boulted out for a duck but that was as close as it got. Michael Clarke led from the front scoring 74. Warner 45 and a Steve Smith 56* took Australia over the winning line with 101 balls and 7 wickets to spare.

VFTB Ins and Outs at Trent Bridge
A new season
looms and I for one am quite looking forward to it. All the usual questions
will be asked by Notts fans, I have no doubt:
- · What silverware do you think Nottinghamshire will win?
- · Who will open the batting for Notts?
- · What bowlers will be successful this season?
- · Will anyone from the Academy make a breakthrough to the First XI?

2015 Season Countdown Preview Part 4
At this
opening of the Royal London One Day Cup 2014, Outlaws’ season looked to be
blossoming on the back of a rich vein of form that Alex Hales had found himself
in.
World Cup - Group Phase
Following the group matches: New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh advance from Pool A. In Pool B: India, South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies all advance to the next phase.
Not major surprises so far, other than how poor England played against those top four sides in their pool (A) and that their wasn't an Associate nation through...... West Indies pipping Ireland by 0.88 runs on net run rate.
