After the early morning rain play got under way at 1140. Prince and Chapple added 40 runs in 11 overs until Hales pouched Prince at first slip off Adams for 80, his drop yesterday off the same bowler costing 29 runs. This was Adams 40th first-class wicket of 2012 and 600th of his career. Three overs later Franks made a mess of Chapple’s stumps as the Lancashire captain was bowled for 24. In the next over, Gurney who had replaced Adams at the Pavilion End got Tyke loanee Shahzad to edge to Read who took the catch low down, 251 for nine. An early lunch was taken at 1251 with Lancashire 264 for nine.
Eight more runs were added in the 10 minutes play after lunch, when continuous heavy rain arrived; Lancashire were 272 for nine with Hogg and Kerrigan both on nine not out. Adams currently has figures of 5 for 104.
A dry day is promised for Saturday. MAG
