SEC Final v Middlesex at Radlett CC
scorecard from Total Cricket
Notts Seconds are on a ten match unbeaten roll and have reached the final of the competition with the highest haul of bowling points in the northern division.
Coached by the General, Paul Franks, with the job brief to prepare players for first team readiness, ranks have been boosted at times by last winter's signings Will Gidman and Greg Smith who have struggled for form and are yet to show the quality needed for the division one, but hopefully they will shine in time.
Mainstay of the 2's bowling unit has been Ben Kitt and it will be interesting to see if the young Cornishman can follow in his fellow countryman's large footsteps, namely Charlie Shreck, into the Nottinghamshire first eleven - perhaps next season?
SUCCESS
Since Franksy took over last year, produce from Lady Bay has been more fruitful with Luke Wood and Jake Libby both debuting last term but also with the emergence of Brett Hutton this and with Jake Ball becoming a major player in the first eleven make-up these day, Franks' appointment has been either a successful move or just a coincidental success but in either case, a success!
Other players who should make the grade and are on their way to doing so are Billy Root, who has scored big for Notts seconds at times this summer, along with Libby, and Peter Moores' son Tom who has scored a number of tons for either the academy or the seconds last year and this.
The match starting Monday is a four day game.
