- Jackson Bird the first 10 Specsaver Championship games
- Dan Christian for the Royal London and T20s
- Position vacant for the second T20 overseas berth
- Another, such as Imran Tahir for the remaining Specsavers?
Who would we like to see in Green and Gold?
With Peter Siddle not returning to Trent Bridge after all, who will take those 60 plus wickets, that the Australian would have been expected to snare in a season, in his absence?
Notts regulars will point out that with the emergence of Luke Wood and Brett Hutton last season, to back-up Jake Ball, Luke Fletcher and Harry Gurney all is not lost.
However, with no obvious pack leader when Stuart Broad is doing his day job with England, the decision to opt for an Overseas International opening bowler made good sense.
Obviously with International commitments limiting much of the worldwide choice available, another Australian might be the answer as Siddle's availability was deemed acceptable.
One of those Mitchells would be really appetising, Starc or Johnson but I'm sure if the latter would be available for Championship cricket. The rest of the crop of Test quicks are likely to come with restrictions and caveats.
Andy in NSW says, Mick Newll should sign up JAMES HOPES of Queensland if available. He has been consistently excellent in the past two seasons as a medium - fast seamer and can bat too. He would be perfect at Trent Bridge. We watch plenty of cricket out here in Australia and James is easily the best choice, underrated and under the radar but for a season with the Green and Gold he would deliver. He is a great workhorse too and real team man.
It appears that the second T20 overseas berth might be taken by Andre Russell who, when seen on TV, seems to play with a similar attitude to his namesake Adams, but a dark shadow hangs over AR due to a breach of the drugs regulations. AR continues to play for the WI in the T20 World Cup however.
Who would we like to play for Notts in 2016? The world is your oyster!
A top order basman for April to June. Tahir for second half of season
