Will Gidman departs Trent Bridge for Canterbury

It's taken quite a while, but the Master of Decisiveness has been drawn to making a conclusion about Will Gidman's future. Clearly more than adequate in Division Two, but deemed no better than what we already have in Fletcher, Hutton or Luke Wood by Newell. Will in 2015 in Division 1, wasn't what was hoped for, or called for, when given his opportunity to show what he was made of but probably should have been given a second bite of the cherry this year, especially as his batting might have proved a deal breaker over all three of the aforementioned  intra-squad competitors.

Rumour has it that Gidman failed to fit into the relaxed culture of the Nottinghamshire dressing room and chose to locate himself away from West Bridgford and to be nearer to the A1, with its direct link back to the north-east. I'm fairly sure that Will could have done a good job for Outlaws in the One Day Cup, but Kent had that pleasure in 2016.

Just a couple of days later after being released Will Gidman signed a deal with Kent.
