The Last of the Kolpaks?

Nottinghamshire Talks Delayed by COVID 19

South African Test seamer, Dane Paterson, had a scheduled meeting with Nottinghamshire representatives on 23rd March cancelled owing to the global pandemic that's currently gripping the world's attention. Had he signed a deal, it might have made him possibly the last of kolpak deal-makers in County Cricket, because after 31st December the UK is due to leave such EU trade loop-holes behind and effectively turn all such players into overseas workers.

In the winter, Nottinghamshire tried and failed to turn Dwaine Pretorius, following an intervention by CSA who offered the all rounder a contract.

  1. Sounds a good title for a book ! I think there was one with a similar name. If final EU deal is delayed, would Kolpak thing go on a bit longer ?

    1. Book and film rights already signed up, Daniel Day-Lewis to play the starring role.

  2. We seem fated to never sign another one ? Perhaps the DoC should not have been quite so stubborn and reticent when other counties were happy to take advantage of this facility?
