Tom Moores with 2 (4) in defeat for Bangla Tigers against the Delhi Bulls
29/01
Both Samit's and Clarke / Duckett's sides lost their respective games today. Joe Clarke cracked a couple of sixes but nothing other than the standard fare for a competition void of finesse. Duckett's first ball was met with a clever reversed ramp effort that was millimetres short of six.
As the Australian Big Bash goes into its knock-out stages with Alex Hales* and Dan Christian still taking central roles and Jake Ball still has a chance to shine; attentions switch to the Middle East for the ADHD of competitions - The Abu Dhabi T10 2021.
30/01
Another defeat for Team Abu Dhabi, this time against Samit's Qalandars. Samit didn't bat or bowl in their 9 wicket win. Clarke 34(13), Duckett 15(12) for TAD
Tom Moores 5*(2) as Tigers beat Arabians by 5 wickets with 12 balls to spare
01/02
Three Outlaws remained not out today but only one remained undefeated.
An explosive Tom Moores raced-down Tigers target, scoring 38* (12) 1 four, 4 sixes; Tigers beating Devils with a over to spare.
Joe Clarke 50*(24) 5 fours, 3 sixes along with Ben Duckett 31*(17) 4 fours, 1 six failed to post enough of a target for TAD to defeat Warriors who won by 8 wickets off the last ball.
03/02
Chris Gayle turned-up at last for TAD and TAD beat Arabians by 9 wicket as the Universe Boss recorded 84* (22)
Samit had a game today but wasn't called upon to bat or bowl but Qalandars did beat Tigers by 7 runs. Tom Moores 39 (21)
04/02
Samit Patel actually had a bat and a bowl to today in Qalanders' 9 wicket defet to Bulls. Batting at 8 he hit Fidel Edwards for 18* off 5 balls. His bowling was even more last minute, Bulls required 1 run for victory before Samit turned his arm over.
TAD beat Tigers but nothing for Outlaws to shout about...
Joe Clarke had a golden duck whilst Tom Moores made 12(14).
05/02
In Eliminator 1, TAD beat Qalandars Samit 16 (14), Duckett 27*(19), Clarke 22 (13)
In Eliminator 2 Duckett 11 (9), Clarke 16 (14) for TAD
Still interested....8 made-up teams, with made-up names and with pick and mix squads playing ten overs per innings.
Outlaws?
Team Abu Dhabi, one of the eight, has the most Anglo squad including Nottinghamshire's: Joe Clarke, Ben Duckett and Alex Hales* plus Paul Franks has a coaching role with this group.
Tom Moores is with the Bangla Tigers, a squad that includes several Afghans.
Samit Patel is assigned to the Pakistani weighted Qalandars.
The competition starts on Thursday and lasts a week, so blink and you'll have missed it.
Which team does Mickey Mouse play for?
ReplyDeleteIs it played behind closed doors or are a few lucky spectators let in to see the action?
Only one American listed and it's not Michael Mouse. Ali Khan is with the Delhi Bulls, a squad that doesn't have any Indian representation.
ReplyDeleteSure Mr Harrison could up with a good promo name
ReplyDelete"The Sixty"
Or 5 ball overs
"The Fifty"
Don't go to the loo, you could miss a while innings !
I just cannot see the point of the TEN OVER competition. Who does it satisfy? The players ?
ReplyDeleteSurely not!
The viewers/ spectators? Only if you have the attention span of a two year old .
The TV companies and Sponsors ( plus illegal Bookies) must be the only ones who gain from it .
Lets hope the ECB arent daft enough to think a
50/60 ball thrash would succeed over here!
The return of Test Cricket to C4 is a huge victory for "Trad Crick".
ReplyDeleteI would watch a T10 match though, provided the 2 teams represented something in addition to money
One good thing coming from the new Hundred comp will be seeing Joe Root play for Notts!
ReplyDeleteYou appear to believe the hype and have mistaken the lie for the truth.
DeleteForemost, Trent Rockets are not Notts Outlaws or Nottinghamshire CCC.
Also, bubbles, test matches and the hundred other things will in all likelihood prevent Joe Root playing in the Hundred competition for anyone in 2021.
Thanks Nottsview. Surely the beauty of cricket is that we all enjoy different parts. There are two formats on TV now. The Test which I am watching and the Big Bash. Both are so different that they are almost a different sport. But just because one prefers a certain format, it doesn't make the others less valuable to the game. Lets face it, if it was a popularity contest, county championship would not win!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the Hundred at Trent Bridge. Going from 18 counties to 8 teams will increase the standard and wipe away the legacy county bias
