  1. I want to be positive on such a great day for English cricket and Billy Root's brother ;

But I do not think that all 4 group home matches should be away from Trent Bridge

Due to health reasons and resulting disability I just cannot get to Worksop or Grantham

Derby possibly, but I suspect this will upset many of us.

No disrespect or ill feelings, but Notts should not play home matches there

  2. Good to see fixtures out for both white ball competitions. I will certainly follow the Outlaws closely. My personal opinion is that my in person return to Trent Bridge is more likely to be in 2022, when it is more likely to be the familiar sight I so much enjoy, and where there is likely to be much less uncertainty, which will help me in planning to attend, given I do not live locally

  3. Playing all our Royal London matches away from home certainly diminishes the value of Notts ccc 2021 membership . Its not as though Derby , Welbeck and Grantham are just around the corner.
I notice the 50 over Final is being played mid- week ( Thursday). I cannot imagine this Final attracting a huge paying audience . Could well be a damp squib and A pretty poor relation of the other one day Finals . Could the long suffering Notts members be given special dispensation allowing them free admittance to the Final itself?
Of course the $64,000 question remains !
What will be the number of spectators allowed into the TB ground itself to actually watch the various competitions and how will the lucky attendees be chosen ?
Many Members prefer the 50 over game as opposed to the Blast 20 slog. Some actually never attend the 20 overs game. So for quite a few members the 2021 membership fee will represent poor value with them only watching ( potentially) the various 4 day matches. .
Its put a bit of a downer on the coming season before a ball is actually bowled?

  4. I’ve just looked at the fixtures again and on the Derbyshire website. It’s a home game for us !!!! It’s possibly immaterial though there may not be any supporters allowed in anyway.

    1. Just returning the favour from 2020, where Derbyshire hosted Notts at Trent Bridge on a couple of occasions. It's sad that Notts couldn't find a suitable venue within the county boundaries however. Two games at Grantham would have caused an uproar.

  5. Ah , I see. It’s a shame crickets FA cup has lost its status over the years ( then again the FA cup itself has long since lost its magic).the Wednesday games in the old knock out Gillette cup and Nat west were hugely enjoyable and had a real buzz about them.Andy picks day at Bristol ( I was there but you could watch on television if you weren’t)is but one great example.

    1. I was at Bristol too. His finest hour by many a long mile. One of the papers had a brilliant and brilliantly accurate description of his run up in particular something like: “like a beach ball barrelling across the beach propelled by a typical North Sea gale”

  6. I would remind others that it is Nottinghamshire CCC not Nottingham. Se do wear socks north of the county. Welbeck is one of the best club grounds in the country and they have attracted good support, putting the match on very well. Some members also live in Lincolnshire and we have had several players past and now in the academy from that county.
What I have a problem with is the Derbyshire fixture, which it seems should be played as our home match. It seems strange that it should be played at Derby, but some things at the club seem strange on the management side anyway. It is also the first day of the Trent Bridge test match when many members will be at Trent Bridge. Surely it could have bene played the day before? There is also a meaningless match v Norfolk. Could those two matches have been switched/

    2. Great points.
Not sure Norfolk match is "meaningless" the idea of getting what until recently were calked Minor Counties, more involved is worth trying I think

    3. More meaningful is that it is the reward to "recreational counties" from the ECB for swinging the vote for constitutional changes, taking power away from the First Class counties, and resulted in the Hundred Competition and other horrors.

Notts will be fielding a largely Second XI if the game takes place owing to the imbalance of the fixed draft for the franchise squads' composition. It's not the dawn of a new Gillette Cup, although that would be infinitely preferable to the Hundred. The whole one day cup competition has had a massive downgrade unfortunately.

  7. Comes back to the old Gillette cup and the odd upset when a non first class county would win.can always remember Hertfordshire beating Essex in 1976( because I was just about to move to Hertfordshire).
