This is interesting. Hameed is not seen as a natural white-ball player, so it will be interesting to see his tactical ability in that format. My preference would have been Lyndon James, as the 2nd XI captain for a few years now. But we'll need to get behind Hameed and the team and hope he can marshal us to the QFs, when the first team players can come in.
ReplyDeleteGood.
ReplyDeleteThis could turn out to be a very good decision for Notts. Nice to see the other players agreed with the appointment . Peter Moores and the Doc must really rate him as a person and a player after playing so few matches for Notts.
ReplyDeleteI’ve got a bit more time to expand on my earlier comment.
ReplyDeleteI think it’s good because he could be a captain of the future and also had already a lot of experience including tests where he looked good before his injury and resultant loss of form.
The 50 over game is the nearest white ball game to to proper cricket and out of it all this season I’m looking forward to it the most, mainly to see how the players play and develop. Pity the games are not a Trent Bridge for us to enjoy our rightful facilities, as a result I probably won’t go to any “live”
I do hope with Hameed as captain, we don't end up 150 for no loss after 50 overs!
ReplyDeleteGood point max, that’s the worse case scenario.other people on the blog have speculated what the 50 over team might be and I think that will be interesting.i personally have not got any inside track on what sort of teams other counties will put out in the comp.
DeleteI wish him all the best. Views at Lancashire varied when he declined in form as to whether it was the fact he had started playing one day cricket ( he didn’t play any at all early on) or whether It was the army of coaches at England that had confused his mind. Subsequently, there was a lot of agreement that the man management skills of the obnoxious Allott had a lot to do with it.
