England Central Contractors

Dependent on fixtures, we might see Stuart Broad playing for Notts again in 2023. Olly Stone, why did we actually sign him? We already have an expensive ornament in the shape of Jake Ball. Stone's availabiity, or not, will influence if we hire an overseas batsman (especially if the absent from these lists, Ben Duckett is busy elsewhere in an England shirt or franchised off for much of the first half of the summer).

England central contracts: Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Ben Foakes, Jack Leach, Liam Livingstone, Ollie Pope, Adil Rashid, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

Increment contracts: Harry Brook, Dawid Malan, Matthew Potts, Jason Roy, Reece Topley, David Willey

Pace bowling development contracts: Brydon Carse, Matthew Fisher, Saqib Mahmood, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Olly Stone

Amazing to see the old firm of Broad and Anderson contracted again . They just seem to go on and on and it must be a testament to their fitness levels and bowling action. So many up and coming fast bowlers over the recent years seem to be out of action for longish periods. I was lucky enough to see the great Clive Rice and multi talented Richard Hadlee play for Notts for many seasons . They never seemed to “ break down” during lengthy bowling spells on top of which they were expected to contribute many runs batting in the top half of the batting order.
You just feel that Stuart and Jimmy are destined for a place in the Sky commentary team or the Beebs TMS.

  2. Yes 79 NOT OUT, they both deserve an awful lot of credit for their longevity at the highest level over so many seasons. Both have been world class performers around the globe on the biggest of stages.
If you’re being critical you would point to their records being significantly better on home soil, in English conditions and lets not forget they’ve been extremely fortunate to play in the era they do and be protected by lucrative ECB central contracts for so long, this being a huge factor in the amount of Tests they have been able to play.
Over the years, Broady has been a much-maligned figure amongst the Green&Gold supporters. But no one can fault the effort he has put in for Notts over the last few years when he has been cleared to play for us.

  3. 75 NOT OUT .
Yes - Broad ASKED to play for Notts in the final four dayer. He could have put his feet up like one or two of the Yorkshire England players did . Its said that Stuart is a good man to have in the dressing room. Never say die attitude. Broad and Anderson are Englands most famous fast bowling combination since way back to Trueman and Statham ( or perhaps Willis and Botham ?)

    1. If you watch the interview with PM, given during or just after the final game with reference to Broad, the club asked the England ringmasters if Broad could be made available. Obviously, Broad could have come back and said, sorry I've got a sore whatever, but he didn't and came back to Nottingham for the occasion. (I'm sure he's no longer based in WB). He even brought his own "pet photographer" to the game.
