Not always totally serious and by fans for the fans of Notts Outlaws and Nottinghamshire CCC. Why not contribute yourself; write a review, article, photographs, statistics or to have a whine. Wish him all the best.

ReplyDeleteSamit Patel's brother, Akhil, played for Derbyshire in 2007. Samit and Akhil will therefore become the first set of brothers to represent both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

ReplyDeleteSAMIT playing next two seasons at Derbyshire !
Well , well , well!
What a total surprise.
An all- format contract will lead to interesting team selection and games played- and total overs bowled.
I suppose we must remember that although Samit never LOOKED like the fittest Member of the Notts first 11 , his record of continuous appearances proved otherwise .
Good luck to Samit in his new job just around the corner.
We shall see if Notts let him go too soon .
On the basis he surely will not get another Hindred contract then they’ve got him for the 2 white ball comps plus any red ball games he’s selected for
ReplyDeleteWhen we give a white ball deal, we are effectively only signing them for 14 t20 games in reality and with the sort of money 💰 these top players are asking for we have made the right decision IMHO
So, yes best wishes to Samit
As a big match performer I wonder how much motivation he will have to play a red ball game at The Incorra, on a flat deck, in front of 300 people ????
I wish him and Derbyshire well but I can't help feeling they've totally over hyped the signing. Sadly he's clearly past his best and wasn't having the impact on matches that he was previously and that's why Notts released him.

ReplyDeleteIts almost certain Samits remaining cricket ambitions exceed his remaining ability.
But he may surprise us all !?
What player his age wouldnt jump at the chance of a juicy two year contract!?
Lets face it, its happened to Notts in the past . Giving contracts to once good players who are past it but still talk a good fight but cant actually perform . Those of us with long memories can well remember!
