Kolpak - Plumtree Pro

New Kolpak signing for Durham, D G Bedingham , was as resently playing for Plumtree in the Notts Premier League.

As the Durham website reports:

25-year-old David Bedingham has joined Durham on a season long deal having played a range of first-class cricket in South Africa. The talented batsman has also represented South Africa under-19s and follows in the footsteps of Durham Cricket team mates Brydon Carse and Gareth Harte who both opted for careers in England.
North added: “It is great to add another young promising batsman to the Durham squad. David has made the decision to move and live in the UK to pursue a career in England and we look forward to seeing him develop.”

Plumtree was also the club for another current Durham player - Australian Nathan Rimmington.

Not too shabby, how is it he never came up on Notts' radar?

  1. Durham's other Kolpak signing Farhaan Behardien also has some "local history", having played for Notts 2nd XI in 2014. He made 18 in a rain-affected three-day game v Worcs in which Luke Fletcher took a hat-trick and 58* in a T20 game v Derbs.

    His record is here: http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica/content/player/44410.html
Probably someone else who could have helped us ...

  2. Our beloved DoC steadfastly refused the non overseas option above, despite by their own whingeing losing all the experience and senior players from the dressing room, whilst all other counties saw this opportunity. Then, he does a complete U turn and tries to bring in Prettorius, who turns us down. It's now gone so very quiet so did we only have the one target or is Myopic Mick still trying to produce a bit of magic. Hard to believe most other DoCS/CEOs/Head Coach's would have made these decisions. Just cannot take the bloke seriously compared to the likes of Jason"Dizzy"Gillespie.

  3. Mick Newell wouldn't recognise a decent cricketer, even if he came with a bottle of Clos du Val cabernet sauvignon 2012
