Interesting !
ReplyDeleteYes, why Compton hasn't been selected for the First Team is interesting - also Patterson-White nor Blatherwick. Compton is a real 'grafter' - well capable of anchoring an Innings and both P-W and Blatherwick ended last Season positively. Is our Squad too big?
ReplyDeleteI would suggest putting out this team on Saturday, can’t do any worse?
ReplyDeleteI agree. The fist team - with a few exceptions - need to pull themselves together.
DeleteThe eleven here is a missed opportunity for the underachievers to find a bit of form. If anyone here does something remarkable, do you think they'd displace Peter's golden few?
DeleteI hope so, but sadly doubt it
ReplyDeleteWould go for 5 of these, but suspect we might get a token one
Both Patterson White and Lyndon James should play against Lancashire, no question. Being all rounders, helps reduce the amount of overs that the likes of Carter and Patel are likely to have to bowl.
ReplyDeleteFinding another opening bowler to replace Ball is a bigger headache unless Fletcher has recovered from injury, and Evison is still out.
From what I have seen of Blatherwick, I would be tempted to release him at the end of the season. The problem is, pace bowling is now very thin on the ground at Notts CCC.
Both Trego and Duckett should be omitted in my opinion, although you can take your pick in all honesty.
I see in the above scorecard Blathers was wicketless but the other opening bowler Chris Sanders ended up with 4. Trego will open the bowling against Lancashire. Peter Moores aint going to turn his back on a player he has signed after only 2 games
DeleteTwo lads have put their hands up here today .As you James really should be in as should LPW
ReplyDeleteI thought Blatherwick bowled OK in his one CC match last September.
Sol Budinger has a lot of ability from what I have seen of him in the Seconds
Thus match can help, if wevgiveborooleva chance in Saturday
If we give people a chance
DeleteSuspect Peter is giving his 'golden few' an extended chance assuming their ability will carry them through provided he keeps their confidence up and continues to back them otherwise he will end up with a huge amount of eggy on his facey having recruited some of the best young talent in the country(not my words). Astonishing that LPW hasn't kept his place, no matter how you have to perm the combination of players. Along with Joey Evison, he was one of the very few positives of last season and looked to have the right kind of character to succeed, a trait sadly lacking with this current mob. You can fully understand why our best young prospects are now looking around to see if they have better options elsewhere ? The days of offering a 2 year deal and the player automatically snaps your hand off seem to be at an end.
DeleteRecent speculation has been that players will go on to summer only contracts, like back in the day. Trent Bridge is ideally placed to offer a player a summer contract playing cricket then during the winter, pot washer or waiting on tables at Le Restaurant Six
DeleteYes BIG Dave, you've nailed it !! But, what about their main employment is Le Restaurant Six as pot washer and then their summer contract is masquerading as a County cricketer as per " There's a hole Den Buckett and a few others?"
DeleteStonewall Jackson, hell I had SJ tagged as Sarah Jane all these months
DeleteEvening shifts that don't clash with evening Trent Rockets games during the summer would be accommodated I'm sure. Everyone's a winner!
ReplyDeleteGarry Hurney however has the Over-Priced Organic Burger Van contract for the Trent Rockets games. Every burger comes with the face Stuart Lord imprinted on the bap.
